Things we liked to do in and around Eagle River.

Right up the road from the house is Highland Mountain top where we used to go hiking/ biking in the summertime and skiing in the winter, the views are amazing and the wildlife is abundant. Down the mountain is Eagle River High school, great school and very close to home.
Fishing Spots: Mirror lake for amazing winter time ICE fishing. If your interested in Salmon fishing close to home then I have you covered. Off the Highland exit (12) look for signs for the Chugach state park, and follow the frontage road to the river and or campground (Salmon, Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char)
Moose Creek between miles 54 and 55 I believe closer to Palmer but a great place for Salmon as well. Head the opposite direction and get on to the Alaska Seward Highway and head out towards the Nature preserve and right before you get there on the left hand side is "Bird Creek" I would spend most of my weekends there catching my limit of Reds, Silvers, and the occasional KING. There is no better fishing in the world than Alaska "my opinion" of course but ask anyone who lived in Alaska and they will tell you the same,

Catching the Bore tide while driving down the highway is a site to remember. August of 2015 I remember driving down the highway with my family after a day in Wittier which is a must see place, but while driving I remember my wife saying to me hey hun look out there in the water, I asked what are you looking at and she said a whale and as we got closer and the object got larger we noticed it was not a whale but a man surfing the bore tide "Amazing"

The bore tide can make waves as large as 10 ft high and produce a tidal difference of 27-32 feet, that's a large difference.

I could spend a few hours telling you everything we have done, places we have been too and foods we have eaten and that would not even scratch the surface of stuff to in and or around the Eagle River/ Anchorage area.

House updates: Exterior of the home was resealed in the summer of 2015, Flooring was installed in the winter of 2018, On Demand hot water system installed by Extreme Heating and Air in 2018, Septic system was dug up, inspected, leveled and new main line ran in 2018, Deck over garage was resurfaced in 2020, 16 person $8,000 hot tub used a handful of times was installed in 2018,
HVAC system was replaced in or round 2014 by previous owner , work performed by Extreme Heating and Air. House is serviced yearly by Extreme Heating and Air ( HVAC system, Plumbing, garage heater, On Demand Water system, wood stove) everything has been inspected and serviced yearly since 2014 when I purchased the home.

Hidden safe area for guns, etc located in the main Arctic entry hallway leading to the interior of the home on the right or the garage on the left. About two feet before reaching the garage is two screws in a wooden panel or the ore, I can't remember but when you twist the screw and pull on the ore the wall opens up for your hiding pleasure.

Total Home Protection is a home warranty I have with the house that covers everything from the septic system, to appliances in the home such as refrigerator, stove, dish washer, clothes washer and dryer, and microwave. Ceiling fans, plumbing water leaks, HVAC system, (TOTAL HOME PROTECTION) I will purchase/ renew a 1 year contract for a new home buyer.
